1938 Hungary – Airmail letter sent to Japan with 1.30 pengo insufficient postage, so the required 60 filler was added at the Main Post Office and the shortfall was collected from the sender afterwards.
In the 1930s, it was common practice to collect the missing postage on letters sent abroad in this way, so that the postage was collected locally and did not “enrich” the foreign postal administrator.
