1938 Hungary – Airmail letter sent to Australia – the paid 1.60 Pengo postage was insufficient, so the 20 filler shortfall was added en route and the difference collected later from the sender.
In the 1930s, it was common practice to collect the missing postage on letters sent abroad in this way, so that the postage was collected locally and did not “enrich” the foreign postal administrator.
