1919 Kedah – provisional usage of Strait Settlements stamps in Kedah + mixed franking on cutout

On the 1st January 1918 the Inland Letter rate was increased from 3 cents to 4 cents. A shortage of stamps in Kedah did not manifest itself until the early months of 1919. Straits Settlements 1 cent black and 4 cents red were authorised to be used until new stocks of Kedah stamps arrived.
